Collection: Rooted Aegis Collection
AEGIS (EE-jis) - commonly interpreted as a shield carried by Athena or Zeus. In modern times to act "under someone's aegis" means doing something under the protection of a powerful, knowledgeable, or benevolent source.
The Rooted Aegis collection are a group of talismanic jewelry pieces that place their wearer under the protection of powerful plant and mineral allies.
Born from Copper, Black Tourmaline, Bronzite, Mandrake (Mandragora Officinarum) and Rue (Ruta Graveolens) these chimeric spirits are each one of a kind. Each piece has been given a name and knighted as a sworn protector of their steward, guarding them against malevolent spirits and parasitic entities. I see these spirits as being most helpful to those working in areas of great trauma, whether that is in a hospital, psychiatric center or similar. They may also be of great help to those working extensively with the dead. To wear one of these pieces is to enter a pact with the spirit of the talisman and not to be treated lightly.
The creation of these talismans begins with a body of copper, black tourmaline and bronzite. Black tourmaline takes on the role of shield, absorbing and dissipating attacks. As a steadfast ally and stone of strength, Bronzite takes on the role of the sword, cutting away at the attacker. Wrapped in copper these allies form the body of each knight.
These bodies are then blessed in ritual, naming the qualities of each materia as their spirits are called forth. Cleansed of outside influences, each talisman is suffumigated with a special blend of Rue, Mandrake leaves, and other pacted allies created specifically for this collection. Rue acts as the curse breaker, empowering the black tourmaline as a beacon against malevolent forces. Mandrake is the root of great magick and enhances the energy of bronzite, guiding the sword so it always strikes true.
Baptized in Rue water, given names and knighted as protectors of their steward each body is born anew as a chimeric spirit. Each spirit has been given a dedicated selenite to act as their squire and a special box to act as their home and place of respite.
Currently designed to pull from the energetic field of their bearer when needed, these talismans may instead be anointed with protective oils or incense of your choosing. These spirits must be washed with rue water at least once per month, preferably a hydrosol or infusion.
